I just remembered parachutes in spanish are called “paracaídas” which just means “for falls” and yeah

so

paragua(umbrella): for water

parasol(parasol): for sun

paracaídas(parachute): for falls

the ‘para’ in this context doesn’t mean 'for’, it means 'stop’, so it’s litterally:

paragua (umbrella) = stops the water

parasol (parasol) = stops the sun

paracaídas (parachute) = stops the fall

which literally means that the name of the thing shows it fucking stops something
